Just Once More

Just once more
I would like to wake to
the sound of the wind in the pines
instead of the rumble of traffic.

Just once more
I would like to smell
the clean scent of a forest
instead of the stink of exhaust.

Just once more
I would like to feel
a forest trail under my feet
instead of unyielding concrete.

Just once more
I would like to taste
water from a northern spring
instead of drinking from a tap.

Just once more
I would like to see
the Milky Way in all its glory
instead of the glare of city lights.

Just once more...
